Antiblocking system of brakes (ABS)

Antiblocking system of brakes

1 – a forward brake
2 – a back brake
3 – a forward brake disk
4 – a back brake disk
5 – the vacuum amplifier of brakes and the main brake cylinder
6 – a brake tube
7 – a forward brake tube
8 – a back brake tube

9 – a brake pedal
10 – the lever of a lay brake
11 – a cable of a lay brake
12 – the block of management ABS (HECU)
13 – the forward gauge of frequency of rotation of a wheel
14 – the back gauge of frequency of rotation of a wheel

The antiblocking system of brakes (ABS) operates pressure in a hydraulic drive of brakes of each wheel separately and reduces pressure of a liquid in that wheel brake mechanism which wheel starts to be blocked.

ABS carries out following functions:

Improvement of stability of driving at a detour of obstacles even in the course of braking. Reduction of a brake way at intensive braking at preservation of stability and controllability of the car even at passage of turns.

The antiblocking system of brakes works on the basis of the information from four gauges, transferred to block ABS. The system operates each wheel separately and reduces pressure of a liquid in that wheel brake mechanism which wheel starts to be blocked.

Under normal conditions the standard brake system carries out braking till the moment of blocking of the wheel which are found out by the block of management ABS. When the block of management ABS finds out wheel blocking, it operates each valve for increase or pressure reduction.

The block of management ABS defines frequency of rotation and norm of delay of each wheel on the basis of the information from gauges of frequency of rotation of a wheel. At braking frequency of rotation of a wheel decreases also block ABS defines a difference between speed of the car and frequency of rotation of a wheel. If delay of some wheels exceeds expected value, block ABS defines the beginning of blocking and opens corresponding electromagnetic valves to reduce pressure of a brake liquid. Thus frequency of rotation of a wheel increases also the electromagnetic valve of dump of pressure is closed and there is an increase in pressure of a brake liquid in the working brake cylinder of a corresponding wheel.

EBD (Electronic distribution of brake effort)

EBD it is in addition applied instead of a pressure regulator that it is ideal to distribute pressure to forward and back brakes, for prevention of blocking of back wheels at intensive braking.
